Mum’s sticker hack gets children picking out fruits and veggies in the supermarket every time

We know children are naturally drawn to colorful images and characters when it comes to branding – so much so that some supermarkets have stopped cartoons on their cereal boxes in a bid to reduce childhood obesity.

One mum used this concept to lure children into wanting fruits and vegetables instead – and all it involves is colourful stickers.

Parenting blogger Jane Stine has shared a hack that has helped her children pick up more greens in the supermarket.

The Massachusetts mum grew tired of her children walking past the vegetable aisles and decided to make the items on offer more enticing.

Jane began sneakily putting Disney stickers on healthy items to make them more appealing.

She shared the hack on Facebook, showing a picture of a squash with a Winnie the Pooh picture on it.

And the best part is that the children feel like they’re the ones making the decision, which might mean they’re more likely to actually eat it if they think they’re having veggies from their fave cartoon character.

Jane’s Facebook post read: ‘Here’s my best parenting hack: You know how kids always want Paw Patrol yogurt or Disney waffles or whatever? Bring your own stickers to the grocery store and start sticking.

‘Today we’re having Winnie the Pooh brand spaghetti squash. It goes perfectly with Toy Story broccoli.’

How simple.

The tip went down well with parents who vowed to try it on their children too.

One enthused parent wrote: ‘OMG that’s so smart!’ while another chimed: ‘This is some genius level parenting right here.’

Another joked: ‘I may have found a use for the hundreds of dinosaurs stickers’.

Other parents appreciated the trick but admitted their children would be too wise to fall for it: ‘I saw this the other day. But it wouldn’t work for my kids though’, wrote one.

Is this something that would work on your kids?
