With some parents saying they are struggling to find baby wipes for their kids, one mum decided to make her own.
The Australian mum picked up an oversized bath towel for £3 and she was able to turn it into 32 reusable wipes.
And now that she has them, she can wash and reuse them and it’s one less thing to worry about trying to find during the pandemic, plus the idea is very eco-friendly for the future.
The mum suggested picking up a few towels in different colours so you can keep them for different purposes – one colour for nappy changes, one for hands and one for faces, for example.
She said the project took about 20 minutes as she sewed around the edge of each piece to stop them fraying.
Of course, if you don’t have a sewing machine, use a pair of pinking shears to cut the pieces and limit the amount of fraying.
The woman also picked up a basket to put them in at home.
In her full post, she wrote: ‘One bath sheet $6 (£3) 20mins work and I know have 32 reusable wipes for my little one so no more stressing if there will be any left at the shops.
‘These will be used for nappy changes, soaked, washed and used again. I am going to use a different colour bath sheet for face and hand wipes. So much cheaper then facewashers and wipes.’
The post attracted a huge response and obviously reusable wipes are nothing new, but parents said they were more willing to consider them in the current crisis and this was a great way to make your own on a budget.
