The latest Lego Creator Expert car set is a retro Fiat 500, so you can tour the Italian countryside from the safety of your own home.
Lego can be used to build whatever you want but if there’s two things it’s really good at it’s Star Wars vehicles and classic cars.
Recently we’ve had everything from the 1989 Batmobile to a Ford Mustang, but the real speciality of the Lego Creator Expert line has been iconic small cars, including the Mini Cooper, the Volkswagen Beetle, and now… the Fiat 500.
This is the original Fiat 500F from the ‘50s and includes a working sunroof, Lego-built engine, and a rear luggage rack you can attach a suitcase to.
There’s also an easel in the boot, ready for your Lego minifigures to whip out when they want to do a spot of painting while touring the Italian countryside.
The set is made up of 960 bricks and measures over 4” (11cm) high, 9” (24cm) long and 4” (11cm) wide.
The set is numbered 10271 and came out 1 March for a cost of £74.99 from the Lego shop.
As authentic as the new set looks though, Lego has gone one better, with a life-size 1:1 model made from 189,032 bricks. (Which if you scale up the cost of the retail set means it’d cost over £14,700.)
It was built in Fiat’s hometown of Turin and weighs 400kg, although it’s not 100% Lego as it also includes a real Fiat 500 steering wheel.
The 1:1 model took 830 man-hours to build and should you happen to be on holiday there (which, let’s face it, is unlikely at the moment) will be touring Lego stores in Italy throughout March and April.
