This is the touching moment baby Ollie met his grandparents for the first time, but due to the current coronavirus situation, they could only see him through the window.
His parents Hannah Levins, 34, and Denis Cummins, 33, from Dublin, Ireland, had been planning to have her mum around to help in the days after he was born but sadly it’s not possible as they have to be kept apart.
Instead grandma Paula Norris and grandad Hubert Brudell came to meet their eighth grandchild Ollie through the window this weekend.
Hannah had him by c-section at 10.22 am on 9 March and he weighed 7lbs 6oz.
They spent four days in hospital while Hannah recovered.
She tells Metro.co.uk: ‘I was a little anxious going in because the first case had just hit.
‘While I was in there, I could see things changing – there was less staff , they had stopped all student medics coming into the hospital as there was an outbreak in the college, so the midwives were working around the clock and doing a fantastic job.
‘There were no visitors allowed except for the dads but that changed too, and then there were lots of unhappy visitors outside the hospital that the security team had to handle.’
In the days Hannah was in hospital, the situation changed rapidly with more social distancing measures coming into place and she said coming out of hospital was a surreal experience.
She said: ‘The day we were going home was a little scary.
‘Inside the hospital, we were safe but walking outside, there was a sense of panic and upset. There were queues of people at the stores panic buying. I was glad when I got Ollie home.
‘Going into the hospital I knew it was getting bad but leaving the hospital was like walking out into a whole new world.’
Before the outbreak, the family had been planning for grandma to come and help out with the new baby and his older brother Lewie, 14 and Penny, three.
Hannah explained: ‘There were cases of covid-19 in her job so she couldn’t come anywhere near us. That was hard. This is grandchild number eight for them, possibly the last one for quite some time.’
Instead the family decided to show the grandparents the new arrival through the window.
Hannah said: ‘This may look like a sad photo but it was actually a happy positive moment for us. It’s harder not seeing them at all, and we could crack open the other window for a little chat. It was nice.’
Now recovering at home, Hannah said it has been tough doing it without her family but they are getting by.
She said: ‘My three-year-old Penny is a lively soul and extremely eager to cuddle her new brother. An extra pair of hands would be nice sometimes but we are making the best of it.
‘It’s given us some quality bonding time as a unit of five.
‘My mam Paula and my sister Sarah have dropped supplies in at the doorstep.
‘That’s been helpful but I would love to bring them in for a cup of tea and a cuddle of Ollie. It’s just not possible at the minute.’
