It’s that time of year again – Mother’s Day is coming up fast.
With the date of Mothering Sunday changing every year, it can be hard to keep track of when you need to get your gifts and cards together.
If you need a reminder of when Mother’s Day will fall this year and why the date changes every year then look no further because we’ve got what you need to know right here.
When is Mother’s Day in the UK?
This year, Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 22 March.
That means that, as of today, you officially have one month left to find a great present for the beloved maternal figure(s) in your life.
The date of Mother’s Day changes each year because Mothering Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Lent, and exactly three weeks before Easter.
Since the date of Easter changes each year with the lunar calendar, so too does the date of Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day used to be a day where Christians would visit their ‘mother church’, or the church in which where they were baptised.
As a result of this, they would often end up visiting their mothers too.
Nowadays, we like to give the maternal figures close to our hearts tokens of our appreciation on Mother’s Day as a thank you for everything they’ve done for us.
