Stuck for plans this Valentine’s Day? Why not let the stars tell you what to do?
Of course, every time we talk astrology, we always come to it with the disclaimer that what works for one person won’t work for everyone.
Your sun sign only offers a little glimpse into who you are, but it can be beneficial in terms of offering you insight in the first instance.
This year, Valentine’s Day falls in what’s known as Mercury Retroshade, which is the pre-Retrograde shadow period that ends on 16 February when the Retrograde begins. It’s pretty similar to Mercury Retrograde in terms of mishaps.
This time around, Mercury will also be in Pisces, which makes things even hazier. Don’t expect to get much organisation done in this time, but be prepared to get your point across even without saying a word.
In terms of love, things could be just as confusing. But, with a little zodiac guidance, you’ll be more than fine.
Here’s what you should get up to this V-Day based on your star sign.
Aries
This Valentine’s Day, Venus – the planet of love – is in your sign, which is great news.
Your normally passionate and fiery attributes will be even more prominent at this time, with group situations in particular showing off your social and seductive prowess.
If you’re single, this means it’s a great time to get out to a bar or social event with some friends and get flirting.
If you’re in a relationship, going for a quieter dinner or having drinks in the house is probably for the best as Juno, the goddess of commitment and marriage will be passing through your house of partnerships.
Venus in Aries has a tendency to create conflict in the sense that you may feel the need for oneupmanship or proving yourself in some way or another. Keep this to a minimum and you’re golden.
Don’t worry about big gestures, and instead focus on getting to know yourself and your partner.
Taurus
Taurus is all about their earthly pleasures, so there was never any chance that you were going to be having a night in front of the TV (unless there was also lobster and champagne).
That said, there could be some changes afoot in your love life, as Scorpio is in your house of partnerships. No, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be getting dumped, but it could mean a surprise text or bunch of flowers.
Any plans you make shouldn’t be rigid, so keep your schedule flowing rather than set in stone.
If you’re single, this means keeping an eye out for a potential partner in unlikely places. If you’re in a relationship, it means there may be big conversations, so being stuck in a ten-course tasting restaurant might not be best (even if you’d normally love that).
You are known to like attention to detail, so a cocktail bar with a mixologist who knows their stuff and can create to your specifications is an ideal situation.
Gemini
This is an interesting one for Gemini, who are always stereotyped as flighty in relationships.
Juno – known as the marriage goddess – will be transiting your fifth house of romance and creativity, along with Mars in Sagittarius moving into your seventh house – also known as the marriage house.
This all spells commitment for Geminis in relationships, so pick somewhere quiet where you can stare into your bae’s eyes and whisper them sweet nothings… or potentially propose, who knows?
On the other hand, for you free and single lot, the Sun is in Aquarius, which makes you even more openminded than usual. We’re not saying that means you should go to a sex party, but we are saying that you’d probably be very uninhibited if you did.
Cancer
Oh Cancer, don’t let your heart get broken this Valentine’s Day. Although there’s some influence from Venus for you this month, Pluto and Saturn are also in on the act.
That means structure, responsibility, and transformation are also at the forefront of your mind – not just love.
Whereas Cancer often wants to be wanted and needed more than they want a particular person, now’s the time to assess whether waiting for a booty call or flaky date is really worth it.
Whether you’re in a relationship or single, make a point to think about what you want this time around, and focus on your own personal growth.
If that means eating a whole tub of ice cream in the bath, then so be it.
Leo
While the ideal Leo date would be their partner telling them how amazing they are, there’s simply no need to relegate this to Valentine’s Day.
This month, Leo is feeling stubborn and bored, which could go well or badly depending on how you look at it.
On one hand, it’s the perfect time whisk away your significant other (or a potential significant other) or take a solo trip. Changing your surroundings should get you out of that rut you’re in right now, and you’ll have your characteristic romance and zest back in no time.
On the other hand, if you feel that your rut is caused by something, you might make some drastic changes as a result. Be careful where you tread here, as there might be consequences for a rash decision or comment in the heat of the moment.
Virgo
Virgo is the biggest planner of the zodiac, so there’s every chance you’ve already got reservations and an outfit picked out.
However, Neptune and Mercury in Pisces will be transiting your seventh house of relationships this V-day, which gives you a less dictatorial approach and see you letting your mind run wild.
Let these dreams – and a partner or friend – lead the way on February 14, and you might find you actually like giving up control sometimes.
Ask someone else to plan your day. We promise the world won’t end.
Libra
Libras naturally love love, but often take a back seat when it comes to making concrete plans.
However, Venus will be in Aries transiting your seventh house (the one of marriage and commitment) this time around, which means you might be more motivated to make these decisions.
This Valentine’s Day – whether it’s for yourself or a partner – make a point of going big and surprising yourself and others.
Try something completely different from what you’d normally consider safe (Valentine’s skydive, anyone?) and your unwavering spirit will pay off.
Scorpio
You might be seeing some changes around Valentine’s Day when it comes to your love life, Scorpio.
Transiting your seventh house this February 14 is Uranus in Taurus, which means the time is ripe for transformation.
If you’re in a relationship, you might start questioning whether you’re really valued. This doesn’t necessarily spell the end, though. Use the time to dig deeper with your partner about what they truly love most about you, or get out of your routine by buying new underwear and showing it off to watch their jaw drop.
If you’re single, your eye will be on material possessions. Head to a boujee bar and let those with money show you just how they could transform your life with a few fancy cocktails and some romance.
Sagittarius
Transiting Sag’s house of pleasure this Valentine’s Day is Venus in Aries, which means it could be a sexy one.
Use the day as an excuse to talk dirty to your partner or someone you’re seeing, and make sure you prolong the build-up so that when you do get together it’s explosive.
Mars is also in your sign until February 16, which signals power and strength of will. So, role play and domination would be a perfect way to get exactly what you want in the bedroom.
Buy a blindfold or handcuffs and let the night take you where it will.
Even if you’re single, you’ll be feeling restless and ready to have fun, so don’t be shy with doing something out-there and wild.
Capricorn
Capricorn are known as a disciplined sign, but this may be even more prominent this Valentine’s with both Saturn and Jupiter in your sign (and Pluto in your first house of self).
For some, this will translate as a time that you’d prefer to work on yourself. Turn your phone off, and spend the evening making plans for the future.
You don’t want wasteful material gestures and might feel worried about how your current situation will fit into your master plan.
With that in mind, perhaps think of eschewing the day altogether and do what you do best – make lists and start seeing the big picture.
For others, however, you might feel inclined to be submissive. If you’re with someone you trust, do the exact opposite of Sagittarius and let them discipline you instead of the other way around.
Aquarius
With the Sun in your sign, you’ll be attractive and sociable, with a much bigger boost in energy than you experienced in January.
That doesn’t mean you should burn yourself out looking for love, though. Nothing would be less Aquarius.
Instead, take this energy and channel it into Palentine’s. Spend time with friends and you’ll notice that you’re communicating better than you have in a while.
If love does come knocking due to your increased powers of attraction, then so be it.
Just ensure to take a rest the day after. Your mood is changeable right now, and self-care is important so you don’t burn out.
Pisces
Mercury and Neptune are in your sign for V-Day which brings a double-edged sword of increased non-verbal communication and a lack of direction.
Pisces live in something of a dream world anyway, but this is heightened even further, with their innate intuition rising but hazy.
On the upside, this is a great time for creativity for you, as your ego is at the door and you’re able to channel what you’re feeling through music, dance, or painting.
If you have a date, take them to a gig or a workshop.
If you’re single, spend the time doing what you do best: Writing poetry, drawing, and making your dreams come to life.
