Taking kids to the supermarket can be difficult as you try to steer the trolley with one hand and try to stop them from running off with the other.
One mum has come up with a great idea to stop her son from getting bored when she is picking up groceries.
When Amanda Warburton discovered that her son James loved being a safety officer at nursery, she decided to bring the idea outside the classroom too.
She turned him into her ‘shopping officer’ and made him a uniform to make him feel like he had important work to do.
She gave him a little high vis jacket and clipboard with a shopping list, cutting out pictures to let him know what he needed.
Amanda explained: ‘I made it myself, just using Word and a pic of a trolley from google. Then I Googled pics of loads of different food, cut and laminated everything and just stuck a bit of blue tack on.’
James understood he needed to get each item and put them in the trolley to complete his duties and then he could move the stickers into the trolley on his clipboard.
Posting on The Motherload Facebook group, Amanda said: ‘My little dude is usually a royal pain in the butt when we go shopping, running off, shouting, just generally faffing about.
‘So now I’ve made him the “Shopping Officer” after nursery told me that he enjoys being the Safety Officer there. He was good as gold with his little hi-vis and clipboard.
‘He took the whole thing very seriously, it was super cute!’
Other parents on The Motherload loved the idea and the post had over 1,900 likes and 110 comments.
We suspect there will be lots of other shopping officers being recruited in the next few days.
