When student Adrianna Rust from Indiana, US, fell in love with a beautiful ball gown for her prom, the price tag deterred her from the purchase.
But her best friend Parker Smith, who was also her prom date, decided to step in and make her dreams come true.
Rather than just buying the gown, Parker made a version of the dress from scratch for Adrianna to wear to their high school prom.
What started as a joke resulted in Adrianna wearing a gorgeous sky blue ball gown on the big day.
Adrianna, 18, told Metro.co.uk: ‘I fell in love with a dress but it was more than I wanted to spend. I jokingly told him he should just make it for me.
‘He’s always up for a challenge and sat down with me to design it.
Parker originally hoped to keep the dress a surprise to present to Adrianna on the day of the prom, but quickly realised it was best to consult with his friend to figure out all the details.
He ended up keeping her updated throughout the entire creative process.
‘I absolutely loved the dress,’ said Adrianna. ‘I was with him throughout the whole process so it wasn’t a surprise.’
As well as the dress itself, the project delivered another wonderful thing: the friends grew closer.
Adrianna says: ‘It grew our friendship more than ever throughout those couple of months. He brought it over the morning of prom and I cried.
‘I was so proud of him and so blessed to be able to call him my best friend. He’s so talented!’
Parker is also delighted with how the dress came out.
He adds: ‘I’m grateful for the experience, not only because it opened up a new world of possibilities in design, but most importantly because I got to do something special for my best friend.’
