Getting glass and shiny surfaces clean is one of the most annoying tasks when it comes to cleaning your house.
Even if you manage to take off limescale marks and general grime, you’re still left trying to get rid of any streaks you’ve made while cleaning.
Mrs Hinch’s cleaning army are here once again with their brilliant tricks, though, and this time it’s something you likely have plenty of already.
On the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, the hottest trick at the moment is using tea for cleaning chrome and glass.
Tuesday Veal recently shared that she uses tea to clean shiny surfaces, and the results are amazing.
The 29-year-old trainee teacher from Dukinfield, Greater Manchester, posted pictures of her microwave before and after using the tea.
In the first picture (which was cleaned with regular window products) streaks are clearly visible, but in the second you’d never believe that it wasn’t brand new.
Tuesday told Metro.co.uk: ‘Using tea as a cleaner has been talked about on the Mrs Hinch Facebook page recently, so I decided to try it.
‘My microwave has been a nightmare to clean since we bought it so I thought it couldn’t hurt to have a go!
‘Since then I’ve used tea to shine my hob, glass table, mirrors and windows!’
Her post has now got 1,600 likes, and members are commenting in their droves about how it’s worked for them too.
All you need to is get a tea bag and let it brew in boiling water until it cools down. You then then either put it in a spray bottle and use as a cleaner, or soak a cloth in it and wring it out before wiping surfaces.
Although you might be surprised that tea is able to clean like this, the tannic acid in it is actually brilliant for adding shine to things.
You can even pop the bags in the toilet and leave them to steep before a flush and a scrub, or use green tea leaves to clean the inside of your microwave and keep it smelling fresh.
Tuesday also recommends putting fabric softener and water in a spray bottle. She says: ‘Spray it on soft furnishings, curtains and radiators to make the house smell nice.
‘We have guinea pigs so this is a great alternative to aerosol air freshener that can hurt little lungs.’
Always trust Hinchers for top tips and hacks to make your cleaning routine easier and safer.
