The fashion world is known for constantly reinventing itself and for pushing boundaries – but this one might be taking it a bit far.

Shoppers are mocking Bottega Veneta for a new style of footwear that looks suspiciously similar to instant noodles.

The Italian fashion brand – known for its woven footwear – has just debuted its 2020 pre-fall collection, with some of the shoes having caught the attention of eagle-eyed shoppers.

The £800 mule sandals are yellow and have an intricate design, with two different types of mules: a closed-toe and an open-toe.

Instagram account DietPrada has posted side-by-side comparisons of the shoes along a packet of noodles which, naturally, sent social media into a frenzy.

The post has racked up more than 89,000 likes, with many people quick to mock the food-themed footwear.

‘Cheap and tasteless – I meant both,’ one person commented.

Someone else said: ‘Seasoning packet included or nah?’

‘Guess she’ll be ready in 3-4 mins?,’ another person joked.

‘Edible sandals, eh,’ added someone else.

But some individuals said they couldn’t get enough of the unique shoe.

‘Makes me want them even more honestly,’ said one fashion lover.

Others pointed out that the mules were a nostalgic throwback to Justin Timberlake’s 90s hair.

‘@justintimberlake old hairdo strikes back lol,’ joked one person.

Someone else said: ‘Makes me think of Justin Timberlake every time I see ramen noodles.’

While it may not be everyone’s cup of noodles, it’s likely we’ll be seeing more of the brand over the coming months and years.

Bottega Veneta won big at the British Fashion Awards earlier this month, with creative director Daniel Lee scooping up a number of prestigious awards. In fact, the brand won in every category that is was nominated for.

We better get used to these noodle shoes then.
