Police therapy dog steals and hides all the toys donated for kids

Meet Ben – he works as a therapy dog at a Massachusetts police station.

Sounds like a very good doggo, right?

Well, it turns out Ben is a thief. And a rather crafty one because he has been stealing right under the officers’ noses.

The staff at Franklin Police Department had been collecting toys for the Santa Foundation, a local charity.

But they were baffled when some of them went missing.

After an investigation, they found the chief suspect – their very own Ben.

The police officers had been keeping the toys in a classroom at the station as they were about to be shipped off to the charity.

But they discovered that Ben had gone in, taken some and hidden them under a desk.

When Ben went back for more toys, he was spotted and he led them straight to his bed under a desk, where they discovered the rest of his loot.

In a post on Facebook, they said: ‘We learned an extremely valuable lesson today. When you have a classroom full of toys ready to be shipped off to the Santa Foundation, you should…

‘1. Close the door to the classroom Or

‘2. Keep the toys elevated

‘If not, a golden retriever will slowly hoard them throughout the day and bring them back to his lair. Thanks to Officer Cusson for capturing this larceny on camera.’

Officers decided they woudn’t be able to donate the toys as they were covered in Ben’s slobber so they got some replacements for the toy drive.

As for Ben, after a fair trial, he was sentenced to a permanent ban from the toy room.
