A savvy mum has made an incredible saving on her weekly shop – getting £32 worth of food for just £3 using a simple trick.
Rebekah Scott, a full time mum from Bexleyheath, managed to buy all that food for just a couple of quid using the Too Good To Go app, which aims to offer shoppers discounted meals while also cutting down on food waste.
Rebekah, 27, has been lucky enough to bag two Morrisons boxes on the app, one full of fruit and vegetables, and the other one full of Wotsits, Kinder chocolates and even a box of Raffaello.
‘As a family of six, with four children aged three months, one, six and nine, we’re always on the look out for a bargain so at £3.09 a box we gave it a go,’ says Rebekah.
‘Expecting the box to contain fruit and veg that was getting past its best we were a bit skeptical, but when we picked up our box we were amazed at the brilliant contents, all of which was still in date and most until next year.’
She posted a photo of both boxes on the Latest Deals, Extreme Couponing & Bargains Group, each time getting hundreds of likes and encouraging comments.
Rebekah told LatestDeals.co.uk: ‘I bought the Morrisons Magic Box from an App called Too Good To Go.
‘We received, carrots, dates, sprouts, chestnuts, monkey nuts, cashews, sticky Deri dates, mushrooms, chocolate fruit and nut collections, chestnuts, grapes, peppers, persimmons, celery, aubergine, parsnips, bags of oranges, onions, garlic, kale, vine tomatoes, boxes of raisins, a cucumber and a punnet of cherries.’
Rebekah totalled up the amount and couldn’t believe how much the magic box had saved her.
‘This would have cost £31.93 but we only paid £3.09 for the box, making a saving of £28.84,’ she explains. ‘This was our second box we collected, the first being a few days earlier and which also contained a good range of products.
‘We have ordered another one for collection today so fingers crossed we are lucky enough to get some good products again.’
Rebekah has managed to make 10 meals so far, with plenty left over, and says she feels very lucky to have managed to get so many boxes.
‘I was very amazed at how much we saved and I’ve made 10 meals so far with plenty remaining,’ she adds. ‘The nut selections have all been put away for Christmas.
‘Considering how popular the boxes are rapidly becoming and how few are actually available from stores I felt very lucky to have managed to get two.
‘The only tip I could give would be to be very vigilant as there may only be one or two boxes available per store and they can go in less than one minute of being put up.
‘I normally check in the evenings but I’ve heard from other people that first thing in the morning is also a good time to look.’
