A video shows the touching moment a grandma is gifted a teddy bear with a recording of her late partner’s laugh.
Marie Boorman, in her 60s, lost her partner John four years ago when he died in his sleep from a suspected heart attack.
They had been together for five and a half years, and one thing Marie had loved most about John was his brilliant hearty laugh.
So when Christmas time came around, Marie’s granddaughter Sammy-Jo, 21, came up with a wonderful idea.
She bought her grandma a teddy bear with a recording of John’s laugh installed inside, that plays whenever its paw is pressed.
Marie was filmed crying happy tears as she opened her present and played John’s laugh over and over.
After struggling to get into the heavily taped box, Marie says: ‘A teddy bear to cuddle! I ain’t got no one to cuddle.’
She hugs the bear, then when she realise he has John’s laugh she starts to cry, before calling the bear ‘lovely’.
Sammy-Jo said she hopes the bear will help Marie feel a little less alone.
‘We do talk on the phone in the evenings and she sees me and my mum around five times a week,’ Sammy-Jo, from Kent, tells Metro.co.uk. ‘She chooses to have the evenings on her own as she likes her own space.
‘[But] she said that she’s lonely in the evenings on her own.
‘It took her a little while to come to terms with John’s.
‘She loved his laugh so, so, so much so I knew she would listen to it whenever she wanted to.’
