As if you weren’t already excited for Veganuary, frozen pizza company Chicago Town has just announced it will be releasing its first vegan pizza. And it’s a big one.
The plant-based creation will feature BBQ jackfruit with peppers, onions and dairy-free mozzarella. Oh, and the main drawcard here is its tangy tomato-stuffed crust.
This spells out endless snacking possibilities, including dipping the filled crusts in your favourite vegan dip.
The Vegan Society has also stamped the product with its vegan trademark.
The new vegan pizza will be available in stores Tesco, Asda, and Iceland including from early January 2020. And it will set you back only £3.50.
In other supermarket news, Sainsbury’s recently revealed it will release 31 new vegan products from its new plant-based brand, Plant Pioneers.
The drop will coincide with Veganuary and will include ready-to-eat vegan meals including smoky quarter pounders, mushroom hotdogs with mash and mushroom meatball spaghetti. The items will be priced between £2.50 and £3.
There will also be cheddar-style kievs, meat-free mini sausage rolls, fishless fingers, and chicken-style nuggets available.
According to a report by Sainsbury’s, the supermarket chain has noticed a 24% increase in customers searching for vegan products on its website, as well as a 65% spike in sales of plant-based products each year.
