Aldi is looking for children to test out toys for Christmas – and they’ll be paid in toys, too

Is your little one excellent at judging which toys will stand the test of time?

Is he or she always ahead of the game, asking for games or trinkets that end up becoming the next big thing?

If you’ve answered yes to both of these questions, there’s a job opportunity that has just opened up – but only for applicants under 13 years of age.

Aldi is offering 10 children the chance to nab their dream job and form part on an expert panel as official toy testers this Christmas.

That’s right, they will get the chance to play with and review a range of items from the discount supermarket’s online toy store, including science kits, boxes filled with magic tricks and ride-on cars, plus much more.

Here’s the best part: each employee will be paid in a year’s worth of toys.

The application process is fairly simple; rather than boasting about their skills in a CV and cover letter, Aldi is asking each budding toy tester to upload a 30-second video, where they review and show off their favourite toy.

Obviously, they’ll need a cracking team to make sure the lighting is right and the camera is set to record (that’s where you come in, parents).

As well as being comfortable in front of the camera, the little ones must also love to play and know about the latest toy trends.

Hot tip: you might want to mention the brand’s Kevin The Carrot range, which sold out in hours after release.

The deadline for applications is coming up soon; kiddies must upload their videos by 23 December to be in with a chance for the job.

These will then be judged by Aldi’s Toy Team, with the winning entries to be uploaded to the supermarket’s website, as well as on Mumsnet.

‘At Aldi we’re always looking for new ways to ensure our toys stay ahead of the game,’ said Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK.

‘With over 349 toys available at our online Toy Shop it’s easy to imagine just how much testing goes on behind the scenes.

‘This is a great opportunity for children to continue doing what they do best – playing with toys! We hope parents and children have fun with their applications and look forward to receiving the entries.’
