When does Black Friday end – what time are the sales finishing?

Black Friday is finally upon us, marking the start of a frenzied 24 hours where we try to get all of our Christmas shopping and wishlist items in one fell swoop.

It is hard not to get swept away with the deals, with Currys PC World, Tesco, Amazon, eBay, Argos, ASOS and so many more all vying for your hard earned cash.

So, it’s safe to say that Black Friday has well and truly started, but…when does it end? We take a look.

When does Black Friday end?

There isn’t a unanimous ‘end’ time for Black Friday, as it varies from retailer to retailer.

Originally conceived in the USA, Black Friday fell after Thanksgiving and marked the unofficial start of the Christmas shopping season.

Traditionally offers would expire at 11:59pm, or whenever the store closed that day.

However in recent years – accelerated by the digital age – it has evolved to cover a larger time-frame, generally culminating in Cyber Monday.

Many brands now extend their deals over the weekend, and offer deals online, meaning that physical opening hours are less relevant.

Currys PC World states on its website that ‘Black Friday typically kicks off at midnight and lasts for 24 hours, with Black Friday deals running throughout the day.’

They clarify that ‘once the Black Friday sales are over you have a second chance to make a saving with Cyber Monday deals running on the following Monday.’

Argos Black Friday deals last a little longer with their website stating: ‘All products with a “Black Friday” badge are either our lowest ever price or a price cut and will end 3rd December unless otherwise stated.’

Some retailers such as John Lewis don’t specify exactly when the offers end, so we’d recommend checking in store, or exercising caution and getting the deals when you can.

Don’t forget – John Lewis still honour their ‘Never Knowingly Undersold’ policy during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, meaning they will price match their competitors.

According to Tesco’s website, their Black Friday deals run until Monday 2 December.

They offer a range of respective online and in-store deals, all of which are subject to availability.

Their in-store deals started at 5am this morning for their 24-hour stores.

If in doubt, check each retailer’s website for updated Black Friday offer times, and store opening hours.
