What do you get when you use a sanitary pad that’s been soaked in a whole lot of scented disinfectant? Well, you could either get one hell of a UTI, or you could get quite a fragranced home.
A woman recently shared her own DIY air freshener hack in Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It, a Facebook group with more than 100,000 members who share cleaning tips and tricks.
Her process was simple. First, she took an empty air freshener case, then she spritzed a sanitary towel in Zoflora and finally, she popped it inside the disused container, hiding the towel inside.
For those who aren’t regular users of the product, or perhaps prefer the scent of rich mahogany and leather-bound books, Zoflora is an odour-neutralising disinfectant.
She says her DIY invention makes her house smell ‘amazing’.
Her unusual tip was labeled as ‘brilliant’, with others coming forward to reveal that similar tricks work for them.
‘I stick them on the back of my radiators. Works a treat when the heating is on,’ one woman said.
This is one of many innovative house hacks that have been shared on social media in recent months, with DIY tricks including using chopped mint and anti-bacterial spray to prevent spiders and a homemade laundry detergent created with conkers.
In the Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It Facebook group, Manchester woman Jade Louie recently shared this £25 colour-in wallpaper that means kids can draw all over the walls.
